Answer: In most cases, yes. Our hydraulic submersible slurry pumps are designed to be compatible with a wide range of excavators (from mini-excavators to heavy-duty 50-ton rigs). To ensure a perfect match, we primarily look at two technical parameters:
Hydraulic Flow Rate (GPM/LPM): Does your excavator’s auxiliary line provide enough flow to drive the pump’s motor at its rated speed?
Operating Pressure (PSI/Bar): Is the hydraulic system pressure sufficient to handle the torque required for high-density slurries?
Q2: What are the main requirements for the excavator’s hydraulic system?
Answer: To achieve optimal performance, your excavator should meet the following:
Auxiliary Hydraulic Circuit: You will need a two-way (double-acting) auxiliary line to power the pump motor.
Pressure Relief Settings: The excavator’s relief valve must be set according to the pump motor’s maximum pressure rating to prevent damage.
Filtration: A clean hydraulic system is vital. We recommend a high-quality return filter to protect both the pump motor and your excavator’s pump.
Q3: Do I need a dedicated “Power Pack” or is the excavator enough?
Answer: This depends on your project depth and power requirements.
Use the Excavator: For standard dredging, pond cleaning, or mobile projects where flexibility is key. It’s cost-effective and utilizes your existing fleet.
Use a Power Pack: If you are working at extreme depths (beyond the reach of an excavator arm) or if the excavator is required for other tasks simultaneously.
Q4: How do I connect the pump to the excavator arm?
Answer: We provide customized mounting brackets (Adapters). Whether you use a quick-coupler or a pin-on connection, we can supply a hitch that fits your specific excavator model (e.g., CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Sany). The connection is as simple as attaching a bucket or a hydraulic breaker.
Q5: Can the pump handle “settled solids” that are too thick to flow?
Answer: Yes. For compacted sediment, we recommend equipping the pump with a Hydraulic Agitator or a Side Cutter. These attachments use the excavator’s hydraulic power to break up the solids and mix them into a pumpable slurry before they enter the impeller.
